Location  
Municipality of Kittilä, in the Lapland region of northern Finland, about 900 km north of Helsinki and 150 km north of the Arctic Circle.

Brief Description
Kittilä is the largest primary gold mine in Europe and Agnico Eagle's first mine outside Canada. Under the current life-of-mine plan, production is expected to continue until 2037. Mining is conducted year-round.

Brief History  
The Kittilä mine achieved commercial production in May 2009 and since openpit mining was completed in 2012, it has been an underground-only operation.

Geology/Mineralisation  
Kittilä is situated within the Lapland Greenstone Belt and is underlain by late Proterozoic mafic volcanic and sedimentary rocks ascribed to the Kittilä Greenstone Belt. The geology and metallogeny of this area is very similar to that of the Canadian Shield or the Birimian Shield of West Africa

Gold mineralisation in the Kittilä mine is associated with strong disseminated sulphide mineralisation (principally arsenopyrite and lesser pyrite) and associated hydrothermal alteration, and is hosted in an extensive brittle/ductile shear zone possibly developed during the Late Proterozoic Age as a result of regional east–west compression. The characteristics of the gold mineralisation are similar to a class of hydrothermal gold deposits referred to as “orogenic” gold deposits, which typically exhibit a strong relationship with regional arrays of major shear zones.

Reserves  
Total proven and probable mineral reserves as at December 31, 2025, were estimated at 24.749-million tonnes grading 4.17 g/t gold, containing 3.319-million ounces of gold.

Resources  
Total measured and indicated mineral resources as at December 31, 2025, were estimated at 22.544-million tonnes grading 2.83 g/t gold, containing 2.048-million ounces of gold. Inferred mineral resources were estimated at 6.582-million tonnes grading 4.62 g/t gold, containing 977 000 oz of gold.

Mining Method  
Longhole mining because of the orebody’s shape, thickness, orientation and rock mass quality.

Major Infrastructure/Equipment  
Ore is processed in a surface processing plant by grinding, flotation, pressure oxidation, and carbon-in-leach circuits. 

The mine has Agnico Eagle's only pressure oxidation circuit (autoclave), which is required because of the ore's refractory nature.

Since early 2023, an electricity-supply agreement has ensured that all electricity consumed at the mine is generated by wind or nuclear power.

Latest Developments
In the second quarter of 2026, Kittilä produced 61 969 oz of gold from 583 000 t of ore milled at 4.07 g/t, taking first-half production to 110 496 oz. Quarterly production was above plan, supported by record mill throughput and higher grades, partly offset by lower recovery. Agnico Eagle's 2026 guidance midpoint is 220 000 oz of gold at total cash costs of $1 267/oz.

Mill recovery remained below plan at 81%. Agnico Eagle is optimising reagent use based on the feed blend, adding autoclave instrumentation and pilot testing a heated-leach plant. A 17-day shutdown is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 for routine mill maintenance and autoclave relining.

Prospects  
Agnico Eagle's 2026 consolidation of properties in Finland created a 2 492 km² land package encompassing the Kittilä mine, the advanced Ikkari exploration project and several other targets. In the second quarter of 2026, drilling extended Main Zone mineralisation northwards by up to 60 m beyond current mineral resources in the Seuru area.
