Project Description
The Phase 1 plant’s two liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains have a combined capacity of 14-million tonnes a year and were operational by November 2025, following first cargo in June 2025.

Phase 2 could add two trains, doubling capacity to 28-million tonnes a year.

Emissions are projected to be 35% lower than those of the world’s best-performing LNG facilities and 60% lower than the global average.

The project remains subject to a final investment decision.

Latest Developments
JGC Corporation and Fluor Corporation received a limited notice to proceed for early Phase 2 work in June 2026. In May, LNG Canada’s partners approved hundreds of millions of dollars for prefinal investment decision work, including further engineering, potential long-lead items, First Nations agreements, supply-chain arrangements and marine-terminal work. The Canadian and British Columbian governments also agreed to cooperate with LNG Canada to support a potential decision by year-end.
