Plastic packaging and asset-handling solutions manufacturer Plastic Ideas recently completed the manufacture of plastic product solutions using high-pressure injection moulding for two new projects, says national sales manager Gilda Do Rego.

The first project involved the manufacture of a collapsible bulk bin for harvesting, and packhouse handling processes for clients in the agriculture industry.

“Once collapsed, the bin takes up far less space on the return trip, allowing [for] more empty bins to be transported back to the farm per truckload and helping reduce transport costs,” she adds.

The collapsible bulk bin also helped to improve handling processes, asset protection on site, ventilation for airflow and temperature management.

Additionally, Plastic Ideas designed and manufactured a modular pallet that is available in four different sizes and can have castors attached to it for easy movability.

“High-pressure injection moulding gives us the consistency and strength required for products that are going to be used repeatedly. We also design around practical operating needs, whether that means reinforced load-bearing areas, ventilation, inter-stacking, nestability, collapsibility, rounded interiors or replaceable components,” she explains.

Every product from the company can be customised according to the client’s specific requirements and can be colour-coded and permanently embossed.

Plastic Ideas leverages other technologies to implement predictive maintenance and facilitate quality control, while employing quotation tools and digital sales software to ensure that clients are quoted on solutions that match the respective application.

Do Rego notes that the company is known for its “competitively priced, high-quality products” that are locally manufactured and delivered within short lead times.

“We have a healthy pipeline [comprising] repeat business from long-standing clients, as well as new enquiries from businesses looking for reusable and returnable handling solutions. Agriculture, packhouses, food processing, retail, warehousing and logistics remain important markets for us, and exports continue to form a meaningful part of the business,” she concludes.
