Name of the Project
Omega Sør oil project.

Location
Production licence PL 057, in the Snorre area of the Tampen region in the northern North Sea, Norway. The discovery well, 34/4-19 S in the Omega Sør Alfa prospect, is 1.6 km east of the Snorre field, about 5 km from existing subsea facilities, in a water depth of 381 m.

Project Owner/s
Equinor Energy (31%) and operator, Petoro (30%), Harbour Energy Norge (24.5%), INPEX Idemitsu Norge (9.6%) and Vår Energi (4.9%).

Project Description
Omega Sør has recoverable volumes estimated at 25-million to 89-million barrels of oil equivalent. The discovery is planned as a subsea satellite comprising a template and a Cap-X production satellite connected to existing subsea
facilities.

Oil will be produced through Snorre A and exported through the Gullfaks system.

The development concept envisages reusing the foundation through which the exploration well was drilled, together with parts of the well, to reduce cost and accelerate production.

Potential Job Creation
Not disclosed.

Capital Expenditure
Omega Sør is included in a coordinated package of contracts worth about NKr6-billion across four subsea projects.

Planned Start/End Date
The project had not been sanctioned by the partnership or approved by the authorities as at July 7, 2026. No formal start or end date has been announced.

Equinor said in March 2026 that its preplanned development model was designed to allow for discoveries to be brought into production within two to three years.

Latest Developments
Equinor has announced early contract awards for the project’s long-lead subsea equipment and installation services. Final project sanction and regulatory approval remain outstanding.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
TechnipFMC (subsea production system); OneSubsea (umbilical); Ocean Installer (marine operations to install and connect the subsea facilities, control cables and flexible pipelines); and NOV will supply the flexible pipelines.
