Project Description
The project entails the development of a 300 MW floating offshore green ammonia production plant based on a floating production, storage and offloading concept.
The permanently moored unit will use renewable electricity supplied from wind and solar resources on the Iberian Peninsula through submarine cables to produce renewable fuels of nonbiological origin-compliant ammonia from seawater.
The plant will integrate an electrolyser and ammonia synthesis facilities, with the ammonia stored in the vessel's hull and offloaded to shuttle carriers for shipment to European industrial hubs. It is designed for an effective load factor of more than 90% and is expected to produce up to 790 t/d, targeting about 250 000 t/y by 2031 for industrial use and maritime propulsion.
