Independent power producer Cypress Creek Energy. The company acquired the project from Swift Current Energy in March 2026.
Project Description
The project entails the development of 2.45 GW of solar generation, paired with a 720 MW/2.9 GWh battery energy storage system, in three phases, each comprising about 815 MW of solar generation and 240 MW/960 MWh of battery storage.
The battery systems will enable the solar-generated electricity to be dispatched when needed most, helping to meet peak demand, support grid reliability and reduce outage risk.
The project will use US-made structural steel and domestically manufactured solar panels.
Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create about 700 construction jobs and 19 permanent positions supporting long-term operations.
Capital Expenditure
Private capital exceeding $4.5-billion.
Planned Start/End Date
All phases are expected to be placed in service by 2029.
Latest Developments
Cypress Creek announced financial close on Phases 1 and 2 in June 2026, securing $3.5-billion in financing to support construction and the long-term operation of the first two phases. Together, these phases will deliver 1.63 GW of solar generation and 1.9 GWh of battery storage.
