Airline Airlink will launch three weekly flights between Gqeberha and Mbombela’s Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport from November 16.

The flights will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, departing Gqeberha at 11:30 and arriving at 13:20, and departing the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport at 13:55 and arriving at 15:35 in Gqeberha.

Bookings are now open for flights on this first-ever direct scheduled air service between the two cities. This new route will be operated by an Embraer ERJ140 aircraft, which accommodates 44 passengers.

“This new route pairs the respective gateways to the Sunshine Coast and Garden Route with the Kruger National Park and its surrounding lodges and other attractions.

“For leisure travellers, it will cut travel time significantly, avoiding the need to connect via Johannesburg. It will also support business travel between the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga’s economic and industrial hubs,“ says Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht.

Travellers will be treated to complimentary meals and refreshments. Airlink’s cabin configuration of window and aisle seating provides generous leg-room, the airline says.
