Bailong Phase I nuclear power plant (NPP).

Location
Jiangshan Peninsula, Fangchenggang City, in China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. 

Project Owner/s
Guangxi Nuclear Power, a subsidiary of Chinese State-owned power producer State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC).

Project Description
Phase I of the Bailong NPP (units 1 and 2) comprises two CAP1000 pressurised water reactors, each with a capacity of 1.25 GW. 

The design is the Chinese version of Westinghouse’s AP1000. 

Once Bailong units 1 and 2 are put into operation, the power generation of the plant will be about 20-billion kilowatt-hours a year.

Capital Expenditure
About $5.6-billion for Phase I. 

Planned Start/End Date
The project was approved in August 2024. First concrete was poured for Unit 1 on December 22, 2025, and for Unit 2 on September 27, 2026. Each unit is expected to take about 56 months to build. Confirmed commissioning dates have not been stated. 

Latest Developments
First concrete for Unit 2’s nuclear island was poured on September 27, 2026, bringing both Phase I units into construction.
