New portable air compressors aimed at simplifying drilling and reducing costs
Developed for drilling applications in construction, mining and oil and gas, four new portable air compressors models are said to combine high air output with a compact footprint to help customers lower transport costs, simplify logistics and improve productivity on site.
The compressors form part of the DrillAir range from Atlas Copco and are compact enough to fit on a drilling truck together with the drill stem, helping to reduce fleet requirements and simplify transport between job sites.
The X-Air 1200-25 PACE and X-Air 1300-30 PACE models feature the company’s PACE technology which allows operators to adjust working pressure to suit a specific job. This aims to give contractors more flexibility from a single compressor, reducing the need for multiple fixed-pressure machines.
The X-Air 1100-23 and X-Air 1200-30 compressors feature Atlas Copco's pressure regulation system, combined with patented FuelXpert technology which automatically adjusts engine speed to match actual air demand, helping reduce fuel consumption and operating costs over time.
The company notes that drilling operations often take place in challenging conditions amidst high temperatures, dust and humidity, in remote locations across construction, mining, and oil and gas applications. Depending on the model and configuration, its DrillAir compressors can operate in ambient temperatures of up to 55 °C, with high-ambient and other optional configurations available for specific local operating conditions.
Each model is equipped with an Xc2004 controller to facilitate access to machine information, diagnostics and maintenance data. FleetLink connectivity is a standard feature, enabling remote monitoring and fleet management.
The addition of large service doors helps facilitate access to service points and ensures ease of maintenance, while long service intervals help reduce servicing time and increase machine uptime. Built-in monitoring functions ensure early alerts for operators, while heavy-duty filtration systems help protect critical components from dust and other contaminants.
